Leading Education Forward: Making Our School Board the Best It Can Be

As a current active member of the school board, I am proud to have served as Vice Chair for two years and Chair for one. During my tenure, I helped establish a charter to complete the formation of our governance committee which allows us to review and update policies and a place to help establish board code of conduct, evaluations and goals. I pressed to bring back our joint 3 on 3 committee with the Board of Supervisors to help better conversations and working relationships. Trying to get a whole board to work together for good takes work. I worked to bring in learning opportunities for our board to include a retreat. What brings me the most fulfillment is visiting our schools for awards, events and general classroom visits. Attending sport competitions, fine art events, classroom conversations, graduations and award presentations are always exciting and make me proud of the staff and students involved. Opportunities to serve our staff by donating bedding and bath needs or serving meals or delivering or serving Thanksgiving dinner to our families of Head Start, warm my heart. I have seen first hand the impact of an engaged community. I believe in the power of public school education and the educational success comes from meaningful partnerships between our students, staff and parents and the community at large. Last year, I worked to develop relationships with our over 55 community members and our schools with amazing results. We are better together.

My experience and knowledge of the educational system and the growth challenges in Stafford County is unparalleled, and I am ready to continue to serve on the school board in a leadership role. I believe that education is the key to success and am dedicated to providing ALL our students with the best educational opportunities possible.
